c1957 Magic Lamp Signet

A J.E. Caldwell vintage gold signet ring with the image of a magic lamp and the words "Fortezza, ed Umilitade, e Largo Core" carved into the face. They translate from Latin to "courage, humility and largeness of heart," the motto for Oldfields, a girls boarding school in Maryland founded in 1867. The inside is engraved with "N.E.R. '57."

J.E. Caldwell is a Philadelphia jeweler known to have produced some of the finest American jewelry in the early 20th century.

Currently a size 5 and could be resized in the 4 to 6 range for $75.
