Returns

To return an item, please email us within 10 days of receipt to obtain an RMA number. Once an RMA number is received, please ship it via insured, certified US Mail or insured UPS within 3 business days to the address below:

Upon receipt of the shipment, we will email you confirmation that the refund or credit has been issued.

Returns may also be made in person to Erie Basin during business hours within 10 days of receipt.

Returns of unaltered items in their original condition shipped to US addresses are accepted within 10 days of receipt of your order for a refund or store credit, less shipping costs. All returns must be approved in advance by Erie Basin. Special orders and items that have been resized, altered, or custom made are non-returnable. Shipping costs are non-refundable, and all costs for return shipment are the responsibility of the customer. Returns are not accepted after 10 days from receipt at your shipping address. Online purchases made with the "In Store Pick-Up" option selected may be returned within 10 days of the purchase date.

Please note that due to customs and duty fees, items shipped to addresses outside of the United States are non-returnable.

Repairs

We are happy to assist with repairs or alterations of jewelry items purchased from Erie Basin whenever possible. Items needing repair or alteration can be shipped or brought in person to Erie Basin. If you would like to ship it to us, please email us first for shipping instructions. Once received, we’ll provide you with a quote for the work. Unfortunately we are not able to handle repairs or alterations for pieces not originally purchased from Erie Basin.

Shipping

Domestic Shipping (within the United States):

We offer $15 flat rate shipping to addresses within the United States. All shipments are insured to their purchase price, and sent by UPS. All orders over $2500 ship by UPS Next Day. Orders below $2500 ship by UPS Ground unless otherwise specified. All orders must be signed for.

Please note that UPS does not deliver to PO boxes.

Upgrades to Next Day shipping are available for $45, but please note that we typically only ship on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

International Shipping

We offer $125 flat rate shipping to Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Norway, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Turks & Caicos, United Kingdom, US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands. Because of our insurance we are unable to ship to other countries at this time. International orders are sent by FedEx. FedEx generally delivers within 3-4 business days, but note that customs clearance into your country may cause additional delays (sometimes up to three weeks).

Please note that you are responsible for all duties and taxes upon delivery. Your local Customs Office will help you determine what will be due. FedEx will contact you once your shipment has cleared customs to collect the total amount due. Refused shipments that are returned to us will be refunded less shipping charges.

Delivered international orders are non-returnable.

Guarantee

All items available for sale at Erie Basin are guaranteed to be as described, including their condition, approximate dates of manufacture, and descriptions of gemstones, metals, and any other materials.

For pieces with diamonds over 0.49ct we obtain certificates from an independent laboratory (usually EGL or GIA). Because GIA only grades loose diamonds and removing them from antique rings often poses a risk to their mountings, we frequently use EGL USA. But for diamonds over 1.99ct, we always obtain a GIA report.

We make every effort to ensure that our antique pieces are wearable and in good structural condition (taking special note of the security of gemstones) when sold. But due to the nature of antique jewelry, it must be sold as-is.

Please note that all jewelry—both antique and new—is susceptible to damage and requires preventative measures and periodic maintenance. Certain antique pieces require additional care, and we’re happy to discuss what pieces would be appropriate for your lifestyle. As a general rule, we discourage wearing all jewelry while swimming (because of the risk of loss), exercising, or moving heavy furniture.
