An antique signet ring with a carnelian agate intaglio depicting a "bacchanal." The image of drunken putti playing with a goat originated from a Michelangelo drawing, and later became particularly popular in the 18th century. The mounting dates to c1900, but the intaglio itself is likely older-- possibly 18th century.
Currently a size 7-1/2 and could be resized in the 6 to 8.5 range for $75.
