A spectacular Victorian long chain with handmade links in 19K yellow gold. Each link is constructed from a series of round rings soldered together into a slanting tube, resulting in a flattened, highly textured chain-link that is substantial-looking without feeling overly heavy. Measures 43 inches long–– long enough to double or triple around the neck. Weighs 40.3 grams.
Likely dates to c1890. Hallmarks are worn but appear to be Portuguese which is consistent with the 19K gold content, which is an alloy unique to Portugal.
