A c1890 Victorian-era stick pin with wreath of opals and vivid-green demantoid garnets. Built in 14K.
Demantoid garnets are one of the world's rarest gems, and are prized for their lime color and almost diamond-like brilliance. They were discovered in the 19th century in Russia and were used in the highest end jewelry through the early 20th century when supplies dwindled.
Stick pins were popular throughout the 19th century and were worn by both men and women to fasten neckwear and ties. They work well on lapels too.
