An unusual pair of early 19th century Georgian drop earrings with tiers of filigree, shells, and cannetille pendants in a design reminiscent of shell grottos-- a popular feature of 17th and 18th century English country houses in which a cave-like structure was built and lined with seashells. The earrings are built in 18K yellow gold and are likely English and dating to c1820.

Materials

18K Yellow Gold and 14K Ear Wires

Date

c1820

Condition

Good. One of the small cannetille pendants is missing from the back of each earring, which is not noticeable when worn. Oxidation, patina and several areas of slightly misshapen elements. New 14K wires were added.

Size

Total Drop: 2-7/8"
