Part of our EB Modern line which incorporates unusual antique diamonds into one of a kind minimal mountings of our design. This diamond is an early marquise cut, likely cut in the 19th century. It weighs 1.19 carats and has a GIA certificate stating K color and SI2 clarity.
It's set in mounting based on a Medieval stirrup ring. Called stirrup rings for their resemblance to horse stirrups, the style originated in the 12th century. Ours is updated with a slender shank and a more streamlined profile. Built in 18K yellow gold.
The diamond has visible flaws, and there's microscopic evidence that it was laser drilled at some point in an attempt to reduce their visibility, but is beautifully cut, with the silvery luster typical of 19th century stones.
Currently a size 5-3/4 and could be resized in the 4 to 8 range for $75.
