A spectacular custom Cartier ring dating to the 1940s. Beautifully handmade in platinum and 18K yellow gold, with a central European cut diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds in a starburst formation. The diamonds are beautifully cut, and white, but of a clarity and cut-type that are inconsistent with diamonds that Cartier would have sourced in the 1940s, suggesting that it was custom made using client-supplied stones, that were perhaps of sentimental value. Signed Cartier on the side of the shank, and a hand engraved serial number inside.
