1900s Diamond Heart Locket

An extremely high quality Edwardian-era heart locket in solid 14K gold with European cut diamond polka dots on the front. The back has a carved monogram. Inside is one glass covered compartment and one open compartment. Two photos or one photo and a memento could be placed inside. The locket is unusually well preserved with the original bloomed surface. Blooming was a popular technique in the Victorian era which left a matte polish pure gold surface over alloyed metal. The locket is solid 14K gold, but the face of the locket tests at approximately 22K.
