A turn-of-the-century sapphire and rose cut diamond ring in a classic late 19th century style that was especially popular in Europe at the time. The first lab-grown sapphires were commercially produced in the 1890s, and were considered a novelty though much of the early 20th century. They were very frequently used in fine jewelry, without the stigma that a synthetic stone might have today. The stone here is every bit as vivid and royal blue as the most expensive natural sapphire. It's surrounded by natural rose cut diamonds and set in 18K gold. No marks are present, but likely French.
