A very rare Victorian locket or vinaigrette (a container for carrying scent) in the form of an apple. Engraved on the face are the words "To the Fairest" a reference to The Judgement of Paris, a Greek myth, in which Eris offers a golden apple as a prize of beauty. Very finely hand engraved with the stem and leaf attached to the apple. An English registry number inside dates to the locket to 1898.
