A pair of earrings converted from Georgian era buttons, one being a c1700 Stuart crystal. Built in sterling silver with pink foil and gold trefoil cipher behind faceted rock crystal. Jewelry of this design was made to show support for the monarchy following the execution of Charles I in 1649, though it became fashionable in its own right. Sometimes pieces were made with personal monograms, as is likely the case here. The second is an 18th century paste button, also with pink foil. Converted to earrings with 14K yellow gold wires.
