Our EB Modern line uses unusual vintage diamonds in minimalist mountings custom design especially for each stone. The diamond here is one of the rarest and most beautiful antique cuts-- a jubilee cut-- which essentially combines the old European cut with the rose cut. The first jubilee was a 245.35 carat diamond cut in 1897 to celebrate Victoria's 60th year as Queen. In the years that followed other diamond cutters introduced variations on the design. This diamond weighs 1.00 carat and follows a pattern that a New York diamond cutter named David Townsend designed and patented in 1902. The cut was difficult and expensive to produce and quickly fell out of favor, making examples like these incredibly rare to find. The diamond dates to c1902 and comes with a GIA certificate stating K color and SI2 clarity. The flaws are not visible to the naked eye.

Our setting for it recalls a design popular at the end of the Victorian era, but with a lower-slung, more streamlined profile. The diamond appears to float in platinum prongs with a cutaway yellow gold shank. The gold has a fine hammered texture. Made in New York.

Currently a size 5 and could be resized in the 4 to 8 range for $75.
