An antique c1890 Victorian stirrup ring with a gypsy-set old European cut diamond weighing approximately 0.20 carats. Called stirrup rings for their resemblance to horse stirrups, the style originated in the 12th century. In the late 19th century there was a renewed interest in the simple austerity of Gothic design, and stirrup rings became popular again. Built in 18K rosy-yellow gold and likely American made. Weighs 5.1 grams.
Currently a size 6-1/2 and could be resized in the 5 to 7.5 range for $75.
