An exceptional c1900 French Art Nouveau pendant of the Madonna profiled in gold relief against a halo of blue and green plique-à-jour. Plique-à-jour is an enamelling technique where vitreous enamel is carefully placed in small cells and fired in a kiln, resulting in a translucent panel resembling a miniature stained glass window. It's is a time consuming and technically challenging process, rarely seen since it was used at the beginning of the 20th century by Art Nouveau jewelers. Signed Jener, with French hallmarks on the bale.

Hangs from a fine 16" antique 18K chain with a newer 14K spring clasp.
