An unusual and very early wax seal with an intaglio carved in carnelian-colored glass that reads "Reponse S'il Vous Plait." Used to make an impression in a wax seal on the outside of a letter, it no doubt sealed many 18th century correspondence, and could still be used today. Mounted in a nicely modeled gold cased watch fob that would have hung from a watch chain. Suitable as a necklace pendant. A large bale at the top would allow it to slip onto a chain. Note that one of the images is shown in mirror-image to show how the wax impression would appear.
